So, lately I have begun enjoying sex a lot more with my boyfriend, largely in part to receiving my first internal orgasm. But he doesn't necessarily feel the same way about sex. He says it's enjoyable but not super fantastic because he has no one else to compare to. I'm usually on top because him on top doesn't always work too well. What can I do to make him think that sex with me is better than he thinks, before he decides he wants to try it with someone new? |

| I'm sensing a theme here. |
[Nov. 12th, 2009|09:37 pm] |
YMMV, but if you're going to write a story based on or inspired by or even starting with a theme, wouldn't it make sense to keep it going rather than toss it out there and than go off on something else?
For example: someone requests a kink like watersports and someone else merrily agrees to write it. That kink appears for two sentences, enough to get it done, and then it's never touched on again. Wasn't that kink one of the main points of the fic? Shouldn't it have a bit more screen-time than two sentences? That feels incredibly cheap to me.
Another example: you start writing how Character A has had homosexual sex and Character B hasn't. You make a point of saying that B is uncomfortable with the thought, going so far as refusing to speak of it even while you imply that Character B isn't totally opposed to it. You have still made it clear that it's an uncomfortable subject. Immediately after that, you jump on the gay sex between A and B. You just completely dropped your previous point. You could have had a very interesting running theme and given the characters more depth, and instead you just jumped straight past that point and to the sex. What was the point of bringing it up then?
Definitely YMMV, but if you're going to bother introducing the theme or writing something based on a theme, shouldn't you stick with the theme? In a longer work, there are multiple themes, true, and the focus on one in particular could be lost, but in a shorter fic? You couldn't hold it that long? |

| home test for thrush is it accurate? |
[Nov. 12th, 2009|06:34 pm] |
Hi everybody,
I am just wondering what you guys think of this home test for thrush. Apparently you just need a cup of room temperature water and morning spit. I don't know how accurate this is and whether it would help me out in some way.
I noticed after a bout with acid reflux, that my tongue has been completely white and while it doesn't look like thrush I'm a little bit concerned about it.
TIA, |

| Yeasty Question |
[Nov. 12th, 2009|08:20 pm] |

| | curious | ] | ( Cut for TMI )So, here's the thing, I recently had a pretty severe ear infection bothe ears and I was put on a significant dose of antibotics to combat it.
So because of this, my vagina was not happy with me and I developed some yeasty issues.
I did the yogurt treatment twice, I just put a tablespoon in an instead cup and inserted it, it seemed more sane to me than tampons for some reason.
And I started taking triple doses of Vitamin C, and Triple Doses of Cranberry Pills.
I also, masturbated a lot... because my yeasties weren't too itchy or anything, just a lot of discharge.
Now the problem is gone.
What I was wondering, is if masturbation can possibly help to restore the normal PH to your bajingo and cure a yeast infection?
Or if maybe my bajingo is just really prone to fighting of yeasties on it's own. |

Sgt. Todd and Sgt. Munley on The Oprah Winfrey Show
On November 5th, in Killeen, Texas, there was a massacre inside the military base of Fort Hood which resulted in the death of 13 people and the injuries of dozens. It was Thursday evening and there were such chaos and shock that initially, the news were confused about the number and state of the shooter(s) and the people who responded. NBC News reported that 'One gunman was reportedly in custody and another was on the loose'.
By Thursday night, civilian police officer Sgt. Kimberly Munley, who had confronted the singular gunman and was wounded, but survived, was hailed by sources such as the Houston & Texas News, Chron, as the lone hero of the hour: she stood ground, even as the bullets hit her.
One week after the Army psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Malik, had killed and wounded his colleagues using two handguns, what is certain now was that Officer Munley was not the lone hero who brought down the assailant. On Wednesday, James C.McKinley Jr. of The New York Times, reports At Fort Hood, Witness Credits Second Officer, that 1. "Major Hasan wheeled on Sergeant Munley as she rounded the corner of a building and shot her, putting her on the ground.", and 2. "Senior Sgt. Mark Todd, a veteran police officer, rounded another corner of the building, found Major Hasan fumbling with his weapon and shot him."
On Wednesday, police partners Sgt. Munley and Sgt. Todd appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show (The Heroes of Fort Hood). Daniel Nasaw of guardian.co.uk, noted in New account of Fort Hood shooting... that "Munley insisted that she fired at Hasan, but did not say whether she had hit him. Todd talked of firing the shots that brought down Hasan - the first time he had ever fired at a human being in his 25-year career - but could not say whether Hasan had already been shot."

| Charla Nash, Chimp Attack Victim, Shows Face On "Oprah" |
[Nov. 12th, 2009|03:44 pm] |

Charla Nash, the Connecticut woman mauled by a 200 pound chimpanzee in February, appeared on "Oprah" Wednesday to reveal her face and share heartbreaking details on her life since the attack.
( Graphic/disturbing photo under the cut )
Nash who turned 56 Tuesday revealed "the remnants of her missing eyes, nose and lips," as ABC News described it.
Nash told Oprah that she feels no pain but that she tries not to touch her face so as to avoid knowing the full extent of her injuries.
"I don't ask a whole lot about my injuries... I know that I have my forehead," she said. She now drinks her meals "with a straw through a small hole where her mouth used to be," ABC added.
Nash lost both her hands in the attack, as well as her nose, an eyelid, and lips. Doctors removed her eyes due to an infection, and only recently did she learn she'll no longer be able to see.
"Only . . . in the past couple of weeks did she realize that she no longer had eyes, because she had been saying that she was hoping to be able to see at some point," Oprah said, according to the New York Post.
Nash now walks around her Cleveland hospital — from which she might be released soon — in a veil.

| Modern Warfare 2 on Fox & Friends |
[Nov. 13th, 2009|08:25 am] |
Modern Warfare 2 on Fox & Friends
As GamePolitics alerted you to late Tuesday, yesterday’s Fox & Friends morning show aired a segment covering Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
The short segment was introduced by host Steve Doocy, who began, “A popular new videogame actually allows you (points at camera) to be a terrorist and kill people.” He asked, “Is this fantasy game just a little too real and is it appropriate?” before kicking off a “fair and balanced” debate on the subject with Jim Steyer of Common Sense Media and John Christensen from SlashGamer.com.
Steyer was concerned about the age of the person playing the game, while a flummoxed Christensen attempted to explain the context of the scene in question.
Doocy followed up with the question, “Is it ever appropriate to simulate killing people?”
Steyer replied, “We live in a world of free speech so you can create these games. The issue for violent videogames is there’s no question that there is a correlation between videogame violence and screen violence and aggression in real life. The American Academy of Pediatrics just came out with a statement about that. The violence is the issue… you need to use common sense in terms of using games like this.”
GP: Of course, other researchers have refuted a suggested link between violent games and aggression. Overall, a less than engaging debate. What do you think?

Man, did the guy defending CoD:MW2 do a terrible job. It seems like it was the only guy Fox could get, though--I don't blame anyone for not wanting to go on there. And it was apparently 3:30 AM his time and they asked him that day to come on, so yeah.
And info about the controversial scene is here--basically, you're playing a CIA agent who has infiltrated a Russian terrorist cell, and they're attacking an airport and are shooting up civilians. You're in there as well, actually playing during this scene. The German version of the game will punish you and make you start over if you shoot a civilian, but I don't know about the North American version, and you have the option to skip potentially disturbing scenes.
And for the record, the game is rated M, meaning you can only buy it if you're over 17, so where Fox is getting "eight year olds can play it!" line from is mindboggling. |

Companies: o Bank Of America Corporation o Jpmorgan Chase Co. o Wells Fargo Company
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Banks will have to secure their customers' consent before charging large overdraft fees on ATM and debit card transactions, according to a new rule announced Thursday by the Federal Reserve.
The rule responds to complaints from consumer groups, members of Congress and other regulators that the overdraft fees are unfair because many people assume they can't spend more on a debit card than is available in their account. Instead, many banks allow the transactions to go through, then charge fees of up to $25 to $35. ( Read more ) |

Remus Lupin is not a feeble Wizard.
This is the man who, right after waking up, could non-verbally, without a wand, conjure a ball of flame, and then tell a Dementor to sod off. This is the only Order member save Dumbledore who was still standing at the Department of Mysteries. This is a spy and soldier who lived through the First War, and most of the Second.
He is not a damsel in distress. He does not need Sirius or anyone else to look out for him constantly. He is powerful, intelligent, and enduring. At the top of his game he is a force to be reckoned with.
Please stop forgetting or ignoring that. |

| Peace is not Weak. |
[Nov. 12th, 2009|05:10 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | aggravated | ] | Peace loving doesn't mean weak minded, physically weak or emotionally weak. It does not mean the person in question is an idiot. It doesn't even necessarily mean they are naive. It also doesn't mean they aren't willing to get into a physical altercation, or even start a war.
There are a lot of people who are damned ready to kill for peace. There are terrorists/freedom fighters ready to die for it, start wars for it, commit genocide for it. These people are dedicated, many strong willed, intelligent, logical (I.e. sociopaths) people. (Edit: I mean this in it's most extreme form, not in general)
Going the less crazy route, peaceful people include the Dali Lama and Ghandi, Karl Marx, Lenin*. They may have had wildly different views on how to attain it, but these people believed in peace, at least as an end result.
So next time you're writing a fic, please think about canon characterization before you write a peace loving character as any kind of weak.
*Edit2: As many people appear to be confused, here I'll clarify. I don't necessarily agree with his tctics, nor am I saying he wasn't nuts, I'm just saying that right or not, sane or not, he thought what he was doing was the way to go. |

[Nov. 12th, 2009|03:50 pm] |
SEATTLE (AP) - A musician who was denied a liver transplant because he used marijuana with medical approval under Washington state law to ease the symptoms of advanced hepatitis C died Thursday.
The death of Timothy Garon, 56, at Bailey-Boushay House, an intensive care nursing center was confirmed to The Associated Press by his lawyer, Douglas Hiatt, and Alisha Mark, a spokeswoman for Virginia Mason Medical Center, which operates Bailey-Boushay.
Dr. Brad Roter, the physician who authorized Garon to smoke pot to alleviate for nausea and abdominal pain and to stimulate his appetite, said he did not know it would be such a hurdle if Garon were to need a transplant.

| birth control and boobs |
[Nov. 12th, 2009|04:31 pm] |

Hi I was wondering if anyone with asymmetrical breasts has had them grow after taking birth control? Mine are uneven and I would like to see if birth control will help. I am wondering though would they each grow the same amount? Would the big one just get bigger and the small one not really change? Is it possible that they would become more even? I know nobody really knows the answer but if anyone has had a personal experience with this I would appreciate some input. Thanks! |

| Labiaplasty questions |
[Nov. 12th, 2009|01:07 pm] |
I read the recent post about labiaplasty and now am wondering how common it is and if there are any VPers who have had it done or have thought about having it done.
If you have had a labiaplasty done...
How was sex pre-plasty? Why did you choose to do it? How was healing up? How is sex post-plasty? Less enjoyable? More so? Do you regret having it done at all?
