My Little Brother Voted! :D [Nov. 5th, 2008|07:58 pm]

[mood | touched]

I just chatted with my little brother about the election. I knew he had voted for Obama from facebook, but I wanted to know a little more about his decision. He's always been very cynical about politicians, disliking both sides equally. You might have noticed that I'm rather partisan, so I wanted to know how an undecided voter made the choice.

He had been undecided until Monday night, even though he had been reading about the candidates for the past few weeks. He said that he told himself he would not get up from the computer until he had made a decision, and he read their policy positions on both sites. He said he chose Obama because he thought he had a better plan for taxes and the war, but then immediately segued into a Fallout 3 conversation--he'd had enough of politics.

I'm more pleased with his thoughtfulness and efforts to make an informed decision, than I am about his choice (though I'm very happy about that as well, of course). I'd rather him vote for McCain because he sincerely believed his policies were the best, than for Obama because it was what the cool kids were doing. Of course, Skyler has always been a sensitive, intelligent, thoughtful young man (though I may be a tad bit biased) and so it's not very surprising; it's just another reminder that he's growing up. I'm very proud of him!

I love the fact that LJ gave this post an "adult content" notice.

Beautiful.

Likely. I just found it hilarious considering the subject matter. :)

/and it's so cool he thought about it, instead of it being cool

He's a smart kid. He shocked me two years ago by saying that he didn't see why gay marriage was a big deal--shouldn't every one have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? I don't think many sixteen-year old guys from MS would say something like that. :D

*mumbles*

Damn.

Well, there could be two solutions to that.

1) Sex him first because then what reason does he have to complain?

2) Don't tell him.

Oh, or 3) Wait until Kupo is born and have him take care of him till he's too tired for sex!

It's soooo funny, because the other day I was asking Maz "have you ever accidentally checked out a teenage girl" and was fully prepared to call him on his answer, when he actually replied "Yeah, sometimes they wear a really low-cut shirt or you see them from behind so you don't notice how young they are at first." XD

Why I asked? Not to trap him or anything, but because I'd been on the bus that day and I had TOTALLY checked out a bunch of boys getting on that were probably no more than 16-18ish. But dammit, they had been doing some sort of sports and their bodies... X_X

I recognize that younger guys are nice-looking, but they just don't do anything for me, really, unless they're at least 20. They look like babies! I think that having two younger brothers might have something to do with it, I dunno.

I have a brother. He's 23. I never ogled his friends, though, but then again, I can't stand the type of person he is and people he hangs around.

Maz has an 18 year old brother as well and I certainly never ogled him either. Or his friends. XD Although we did play World of Warcraft with a few of them for a while and one of them was really sweet in a way that made Kitty go "Where was HE when I was a teenager???" XD

But, anyway, it's not like I'd ever go for anyone that young! XD I have no clue what to do with them. O.o Quite happy with Maz and all that as well. I just think there's something enormously cute about them that I like to look at. Maybe it's because they're still such relatively innocent beings yet in a sense they're also fully grown. They're like... puppies and kittens! With hormones! XD

As for them looking like babies - that really differs... I swear, I once saw a fourteen-year-old that looked 20! Imagine my jaw dropping at that revelation. And, on the other hand, I've known 23-year-olds that looked 16. I've given up on knowing for sure. =/

And it's almost worse with girls!

Yep. When I went home last, my youngest brother (he's 14) had just had his voice change. It was adorable but sad at the same time. I miss him being little. :(

Aww. When I first met Maz' brother he was 13. I'm having problems with him growing up as well. O.o As in, I often say things like "You can't do that! You're only 14!!!" and he gives me this exasperated glance.

I JUST managed to bite my tongue when he was staying over at his girlfriend's this summer at some point when we visited.

I am quite literally worse than his mother, because, you know, she seems to have no urge to say "YOU'RE JUST A BABY! STOP THAT!" XD

And he knows about my ficcing but I told him "You can't read, they're NC-25" XD (and yes, he gave me that look again)

I do and say all the things that annoyed me so when I was a child (you're getting so big! look how you've grown! that's so cute!) but I can't help myself. :)

that's awsome to know that people that do vote don't just go up to a screen and press buttons, but actually listens to principels, and ideas for the future.

I used to write "I think this is stupid and I refuse to vote" on those yearbook/homecoming ballots. :)
